The “reason for the season” is the birth of Jesus Christ.  Even though the true date of His incarnation is unknown, remembering His coming brings joy to the believer.  This past year brought many reasons for rejoicing which I share with you along with God’s Word.

Luke 2:10  And the angel said unto them,  Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  (11)  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Teaching young children blesses and rejuvenates the heart.  Shenna Monroe, a mother of four, works with Dan and me in AWANA Cubbies.  Our Blackfeet kids come in with well-played-in clothes, tangled hair, and smudged faces. ..and smiles.  We are t;hankful for a group that is better behaved than in previous years.  Also, how interesting it is to hear their answes to questions about the lesson, especially when it seemed that they were drifting off elsewhere!  Praise the Lord for Brett, Shenna’s middle son, who accepted the Lord over Thanksgiving.  May many more truly come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.  Many parents will be coming to our Christmas program on December 14th, so pray for their hearts being open to the Gospel.

2 John v. 4   I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received commandment from the Father.

A different kind of joy comes through age in the form of seeing spiritual children grow up and“reproducing”.  Thirty years ago in Moengo, Suriname, a girl from a Hindu family came to Bible club.Now, she and her husband faithfully serve God in the Netherlands.Unable to have children themselves, they rejoice in having a spritual family!  I thank God for being able to visit them after so many years and for being encouraged by them!

Philippinas 2:16   Holding forth the Word of life;  that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run invain. On a personal note, Dan had a biopsy of his prostate gland that was positive.  Pray  for us to choose the best treatment for him to undergo next year.  Degenerative disk disease and its side effects cause me problems that are being treated.  I am glad to be able to get around  after stretching out when I get up from sitting or being in one position for a long time.   Two months ago, the Lord opend up a part-time job at the county nursing home, as the director asked me if I would consider working there. May my attitude and countenance reflect Christ  when words are not allowed to be spoken.

Many are the reasons for the season.  Thank you for your prayers and support and may you also have your own reason for rejoicing!
