Dear Friends,
Can you believe it? After working on reserves for 30 years I am now living on one and I love it. It is amazing how God works everything according to His plan and purposes.
I arrived in Weagamow Lake on October 14, 2009, by float plane. They provided a very nice apartment – freshly painted with all new appliances. I quickly got settled in and ready to begin at the school.
The Native Sena School has nine classrooms and I am in each class twice a week. I have visualized Bible stories, and I started with creation. I am going through the Bible in chronological order. I know some were wondering if the grade 7 & 8 students would give me a hard time, but so far they have listened well with no trouble.
I have heard some good comments from the teachers. One teacher said, “No one in my class has mentioned suicide since you have been here. I was so stressed out in September because my students kept talking about suicide, and some said they wanted to take their own life.” One teacher said, “I like you coming to my class because my students act better.”
Pray for me as I share God’s Word, that it would be clear and easy to understand. Please pray for the students and staff that their hearts would be open to hear and receive the good news of the gospel. Above all else, pray that God would do the work in their hearts that only He can do to give light and understanding.
I love teaching at the school but I’ve also been burdened that these kids get connected to the church. Some of the younger ones come to Sunday school on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00, but when they’re around 10 years old they usually quit coming. I would like to have something for the 10-year- olds and up.
I’ve enjoyed helping at the church. We have a ladies prayer time every Monday night. I’ve also helped at times with the Sunday school, children’s church on Sunday morning, and ladies Bible studies. Of course there are the regular services and other outreaches of the church.
Living on a reserve also means getting involved in community events as well as funerals. This funeral was a stillborn baby. All of these are opportunities to show love and care for others and to share Christ.
I know you are wondering where the picture is of my new truck. Well ... I haven’t found mine yet. I still have until mid- March to find the one God has for me and to drive it up on the winter road. Thanks so very much to all of you who have given and prayed. We serve a wonderful God.
Let’s continue to be found faithful until He comes.
Because of Christ,
Jo Anne Brammer
